She acknowledged that the character didn’t have much to do in the first two parts of the episode, so much so that when she was required to read lines for an audition, they were for a different character because Damphousse hadn’t yet been developed.
As they were creating the new character, the writers incorporated bits of Chapman’s personal history and experiences. Despite a coordinated fan campaign to keep the show going, it was canceled after one season.
